L. DUBAN
Dennis graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Southern
California in June of 1973 with Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Upon
graduation, he was awarded much praise for receiving the Elijah Watt Sells
award and the Forbes Gold Medal for the highest score on the May 1973
Uniform CPA Examination. He continues his education through the
California, Hawaii, Washington and New York Societies of Certified Public
Accountants which represent the states in which Dennis holds a CPA
license.
Dennis began his career employed by a major international CPA firm from
1973 – 1979. He then formed Duban Accountancy in 1979 to offer tax and
accounting expertise to individuals and businesses. He expanded the firm
to its current location in 1984 upon acquiring the office building that is
now home to the firm and affiliated businesses. The building is now known
as the Dennis L. Duban Building. In 2005, Troy Sattler became a partner in
the firm and the name was later changed to the current Duban Sattler and
Associates, LLP.
Dennis' specialties include tax compliance and planning for individuals,
partnerships, corporations, estates and trusts. His specific areas of tax
expertise include real estate, the entertainment industry, construction
and development, professional corporations, retirement and estate
planning. He believes that each client’s financial goals are achieved by
careful, insightful and individual attention to their needs and by
creating an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect. He attributes his many
successes to his great joy for his firm, its staff and his true love of
supporting people in realizing their dreams.
Dennis’ investment philosophy includes an understanding that total
diversification and asset allocation are key. Real Estate investing
complimented by a broad exposure to financial markets can provide such
diversification.
Dennis’s life is enriched by his partner Kevin Montgomery and their
daughter Chelsea A. Montgomery-Duban. In 2007 Chelsea was the recipient of
the “Arrow Award” at middle school graduation which is given by the
teachers to the student who most exemplifies the principals of Archer,
that is, honesty, respect and responsibility. Dennis serves on the boards
of several charitable institutions and Kevin is currently the president of
the Parent Association at the Archer School for Girls. The family recently
helped to create Montgomery-Duban Headlands Park in Anacortes, Washington.
The family currently resides in Malibu, California, Anacortes, Washington
and Parapara, New Zealand.
